In one of the most quoted parts of Joe Biden’s farewell White House address from the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, per REV transcripts, he said the following.
“…in my farewell addressed tonight I want to warn the country of some things that give me great concern, and that’s the dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra wealthy people.
There are dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked. Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power, and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead. We see the consequences all across America, and we’ve seen it before, more than a century ago, but the American people stood up to the robber barons back then and busted the trusts. They didn’t punish the wealthy, just made the wealthy play by the rules everybody else had to.”
According to the left-leaning Associated Press (AP) was the following. Biden…
used his farewell address to the nation Wednesday to deliver stark warnings about an “oligarchy” of the ultra-wealthy taking root in the country and a “tech-industrial complex” that is infringing on Americans’ rights and the future of democracy.
…Biden seized what is likely to be his final opportunity to address the country before he departs the White House to spotlight the accumulation of power and wealth in the U.S. among just a small few.
“Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,” Biden said, drawing attention to “a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a few ultra-wealthy people and the dangerous consequences if their abuse of power is left unchecked.”
Per REV, Biden said.
We see the same dangers of the concentration of technology, power, and wealth. In his farewell address, President Eisenhower spoke of the dangers of the military industrial complex. He warned us then about, and I quote, “the potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power.” Six decades later, I’m equally concerned about the potential rise of a tech industrial complex that could pose real dangers for our country as well. …
Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation, enabling the abuse of power. The free press is crumbling, editors are disappearing. Social media has giving up on fact checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and for profit. We must hold the social platforms accountable to protect our children, our families, and the very democracy from the abuse of power. Meanwhile, artificial intelligence is the most consequential technology of our time, perhaps of all time. Nothing offers more profound possibilities and risk for our economy and our security, our society, for humanity. Artificial intelligence even has the potential to help us answer my call to end cancer as we know it. But unless safeguards are in place, AI could spawn new threats to our rights, our way of life, to our privacy, how we work and how we protect our nation. We must make sure AI is safe and trustworthy and good for all humankind.
Much of that is quite accurate. MHLivingNews and our MHProNews sister site has pointed to several of those same issues for years. That should not be construed to mean that in this news analysis that we agree with much of what Biden said, because editorially we don’t. But those quoted portions above are in many respects demonstrably true. In this facts, evidence, and analysis (FEA) packed article consider the following that underscored what Biden said that was previously published here on Mobile and Manufactured Home Living News (MHLivingNews) or on Manufactured Home Pro News (MHProNews).
In fairness to the exiting Biden, any speech, any article or book arguably leaves out more than it includes. Speechwriters have a wealth of information to draw from, and have to pare it down to fit into a timeline. Writer’s may have word limits imposed on them by an editor or publisher. Even here on MHLivingNews or on our MHProNews sister site where we don’t have a word-limit per se, an article of thousands of words could likely be thousands of words longer. Some things are included, others are not in order to complete an article in less than a day and get it published for our readers. But here and on MHProNews we routinely provide the sources and information needed for the curious to dig deeper and see added details for themselves. There are many in media that do not do the same.
That said, let’s pivot back to what Biden said in those quoted statements. Because even though there is a case to be made that he was paltering, paterling involves a mix of the truth combined with omitted or misleading information. Here is how Vocabular defines this very important word that should be understood in order to grasp how on a practical level the elites that Biden is curiously referring to have managed to stay in power for so long.
Who does Biden think put him in power? Billionaires and the information oligarchs are the very ones that put him into the White House. That’s what makes this speech a blend of paltering, posturing, and projection. He is projecting onto his political opponents the very thing that he and his colleagues, including Kamala Harris (D), have done for years.
Biden is implying that former and future President Donald J. Trump (R) is about to enter the White House due to support from billionaires. That is true. But that is not the whole story. First, Kamala Harris reportedly had more billionaires supporting her than Trump had supporting him. Oops.
Next, Biden had the support of those information oligarchs in the 2020 election, as MHProNews and MHLivingNews reported several times. So, it is OK (in Biden’s worldview) for the oligarchs to support him and Kamala, but it is not okay when they support his political opponent, in this case, soon to be inaugurated President Trump? Biden, Harris and Democrats may be among those who point out that Elon Musk reportedly provided $100 million dollars to help get Trump and Republicans elected. But what Biden didn’t mention is that Mark Zuckerberg reportedly provided some $400 million dollars in an effort in 2020 that got out the vote for Biden-Harris (D).
The reality is that both major parties have benefited from wealthy donors, but the bulk of that wealth benefited the political left in the form of the Democratic Party. Who says? Left-leaning Open Secrets funded by leftist billionaire mega donor George Soros, who has been preparing his son Alex Soros to step into his shoes.

Our platforms (MHProNews/MHLivingNews) reported on these problems years ago. We will continue to report on these problems, because in order to understand why there is an affordable housing crisis because some of those ‘oligarchs’ and their minions believe that it benefits their own interests. The report linked below was uploaded on September 9, 2020. But it didn’t do so through a Democratic prism as Biden is attempting to do in his speech yesterday (1.15.2025).

We have invested significant time to make our readers better informed about information manipulation, because it frankly understanding that makes it easier to understand how manufactured housing could be underperforming during an affordable housing crisis. It remains to be seen if the Trump 2.0 term will be as or more effective as Trump 1.0 was. But what is certain is that more Americans made more money and had a ‘better shot’ at the American Dream than they had under Biden Harris (D). When Joe Biden (DE-D) was a U.S. Senator, he was a co-sponsor of the Manufactured Housing Improvement Act of 2000 (a.k.a.: MHIA, MHIA 2000, 2000 Reform Act, 2000 Reform Law). Yet, while he and Kamala were in the White House and the vice president’s residence during the past 4 years, they apparently didn’t lift a finger to implement a law Biden helped enact.

But for now, let’s simply note that many (not all) Democratic leaders have been deceptive in quite the same way as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been. They say part of the truth, but not key aspects of the total story. They have been working for the very people they now may denounce or decry. Who said? Well, how about former Democratic presidential candidate, Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-D) and Senator Bernie Sanders (VT-DS).

There was plenty of hypocrisy in the Biden speech last night. One example will suffice for now, and we may look at other examples as time and other topics permit.
With his tax evading, pardoned son watching his farewell address in the wings, he had the nerve to talk about “paying your fair share in taxes.” Of course the pardon covered a period that might have exposed his own tax evasions. Well, let’s share bonus examples mentioned in this headline.
Biden has apparently long been a corrupt politician by the standard set by the late Democratic President Harry S. Truman.
Biden could have fixed affordable housing but didn’t. Instead, homelessness rose. This speech may become famous for the very quotes that we are focusing on today, namely, that their has been a: “dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra wealthy people.” They put Biden-Harris into office. When some of them turned on Biden and Democrats, they became ‘enemies of the state’ as represented by Biden and his cronies.
If you aim to tell the truth, and tell it consistently and persistently, for some it may be surprising how often events may sooner or later confirm that reporting and analysis. Our reports have always aimed at being accurate, and as we discovered troubling problems, we sought to expose them. Way to Go, Joe. Thanks for helping confirm years of our reporting. We appreciate that, even though we have consistently exposed you and Kamala’s many apparent acts of deception and wrongdoing. Don’t let the exit door smack you in the back end too hard.
