It is a vexing reality that in the U.S. access to affordable housing is influenced by politics. As a prior report here on MHLivingNews recently revealed there are dozens of nations around the world that have a higher rate of home ownership than the U.S., even though the U.S. routinely has a higher average household income than most other countries. So, from time-to-time articles on political subjects are deemed warranted by MHLivingNews and on our MHProNews sister site. Right or wrong, legal, regulatory and other issues impact access to affordable homes, including manufactured homes. Public policies and politics are thus useful and arguably necessary to grasp if greater access to affordable manufactured home ownership is to be achieved.
With that preface, the following is adapted from a post on the Patch by this writer for MHLivingNews.
According to a report in the left-leaning New York Times, “Kamala Harris Hires Top Obama Advisers, Building Out [her] Campaign.” David Plouffe, who managed Barack Obama’s first presidential big, is among the new senior staff” for the Kamala Harris (D) campaign, said that New York Times report. So, when David Plouffe is mentioned in the report that follows that is about as high a level of a source as someone can get from Kamala Harris’ 2024 Democratic campaign leadership.
According to the more centrist The Hill, Plouffe said: “It’s always worth reminding people: It’s really hard for Democrats to win battleground states, OK? Let’s look at Pennsylvania: 25 percent of the electorate is liberal, roughly, 34 percent is conservative,” Plouffe said. “So in every battleground state, there’s more conservatives than liberals.” The Hill said the Plouffe comments came in “an interview was on Crooked Media’s “Pod Save America,” hosted by former Obama aides, Plouffe joined his 2024 campaign colleagues to reflect on what went wrong in the race.”
“In Pennsylvania, if exits are to be believed, Trump won conservatives 91-8. Harris won Liberals 93–6. Moderates, Harris won 56-43. But you kind of got to win 60 percent of them, right?” Plouffe said. “So, you know, for Democrats to win battleground states, to Quentin and Jen’s point, it is a false choice.”
Plouffe also said that Democrats “can’t afford” to lose any more of its base going into future elections.
“And I think as we look ahead to ’26 and ’28, particularly where you have seen drift amongst noncollege voters generally, particularly those of color, specifically, you know, we obviously have to get some of that back. We can’t afford any more erosion. The math just doesn’t [blanking] work, okay?”

Kamala’s internal polling told her she likely was going to lose
Adviser says public surveys showed there were leads ‘that we never saw’
By Bob Unruh | November 28, 2024
As long as Donald Trump has been in the presidential polling mix, it seems, pollsters have gotten the numbers wrong.
They, of course, had Hillary Clinton leading by significant numbers in 2016. She lost to Trump.
The 2020 election was skewed by a number of outside influences that likely now will be investigated by a Republican Congress, but the polls still weren’t that close to accurate.
And this year, poll after poll counted on Kamala Harris in the lead, sometimes by significant numbers. Or some of them said it was close. But Trump won by millions of popular votes and a landslide in the Electoral College.
The one segment of the polling process that appeared to get it right, actually, was the internal polling Kamala Harris’ own campaign did.
According to a report from the Washington Examiner those results had her losing.
“The leadership of outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 presidential campaign said that internal polling never had her ahead of President-elect Donald Trump,” the report explained. “After President Joe Biden began lagging heavily behind Trump in the polls in June and July, the entrance of Harris appeared to solve Democrats’ problems. From August until right before the election, a great many accredited public polls had Harris leading Trump.”
But senior Harris campaign adviser David Plouffe said the internal polling always was telling Harris she wasn’t winning.
“We didn’t get the breaks we needed on Election Day,” he said in an interview with a podcaster. “I think it surprised people because there was these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw.”
He explained that, unlike legacy media portrayals of a campaign energized and reinvigorated when Democrat party elites tossed Joe Biden under the bus and installed Harris, “internal polling didn’t change much throughout the election, remaining mostly static since Harris joined the race in July.
Joining Plouffe in the autopsy of the 2024 Democrat campaign were Jen O’Malley Dillon, Quentin Fulks, and Stephanie Cutter, all Democrat campaign officials.
“The truth is that we really thought this was a very close race; we talked about the entire time we saw it as a margin-of-error race,” Dillon said.
“Overall, the Harris campaign leadership portrayed the race as doomed from the start, saying there wasn’t much Harris could’ve done to change the outcome,” the report said.
Trump, in fact, swept all seven swing states and collected millions of more votes than Harris.

Part II – Additional Facts Evidence Analysis (FEA)
According to a report on left-leaning USA Today that was amplified on left-leaning Yahoo News was the following. It also cited that same interview on the left-leaning Pod Save America as their source.
- “A senior adviser to Vice President Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign said their own internal polling never showed her leading President-elect Donald Trump, and they were “surprised” when public polls put her ahead.
- “We were behind, I mean, I think it surprised people because there were these public polls that came out in late September, early October, showing us with leads that we never saw,” senior campaign adviser David Plouffe said on the politics podcast “Pod Save America” that aired Tuesday.
- Harris lost decisively to Trump, 78, earlier this month after he swept all seven battleground states, winning the Electoral College and the popular vote, the first time a Republican has done so since former President George W. Bush won in 2004.
So, what WND’s Unruh, the USA Today, The Hill and other sources that cited that same podcast hosted by left-leaning Obama (i.e.: Democratic) allies and guests each pointed to was that internal polling conducted by the Harris campaign never showed Harris ahead of now President-elect Donald J. Trump (R).
According to the New York Post and other sources, “J. Ann Selzer retires after predicting Kamala would win Iowa New York Post. Nov 17, 2024 — J. Ann Selzer is retiring from election polling just weeks after her once-respected poll showed that Kamala Harris was leading in Iowa.” Did Selzer engage in a suppression polling effort hoping to discourage Trump voters? See further below.
As WND’s Unruh aptly noted, polling Trump has apparently been a challenge from his first presidential campaign in 2015-2016. For months the public was led to believe by mainstream media pollsters that the race was tight and favored Harris. Plouffe and Dillon all but admitted that the contest favored Trump from the start of Kamala Harris’ campaign to the finish. Plouffe attempted to put as positive a face on that as possible by saying there are ‘more conservatives than liberals’ in each of the “battleground” or key swing states. Plouffe went further by saying that there has been “erosion” in the Democratic base which his party needs to get back if Democrats are to be successful in those areas in 2026 or 2028.
Restated, Trump has rebuilt the Republican Party in a fashion that has attracted more younger voters, more minority voters, and essentially more voters on around.
In this writer’s reports on MHProNews and here on the Patch we frequently cited videos by Election Time, which said weeks in advance of the election outcome that Trump was ahead. But it must be kept in mind that polling is a snapshot in time. Even an accurate poll still depends on the notion of voters turning out and vote. It always comes down to actual turnout and voting.
But there is potentially more to it than less-than-accurate mainstream media polling. To illustrate, this writer for MHProNews and the Patch asked Copilot to describe a “suppression poll.” Here was left-leaning Bing’s AI powered Copilot’s response.
A suppression poll is a type of public opinion poll that is designed to influence or shape public opinion rather than just measure it. These polls can be used to suppress certain viewpoints or to create a perception that a particular opinion is more or less prevalent than it actually is.
For example, by selectively releasing poll results that show a candidate or policy in a favorable light, organizations can attempt to sway public perception and behavior. This can lead to a form of manipulation where the public is led to believe that there is a consensus or majority opinion that may not truly exist.
So, an illusion can be created that makes it seem like a voter’s favored candidate is behind, when actually that candidate may be ahead.
By creating an illusion that a candidate (for example, Trump in 2024) is ‘trailing,’ a suppression poll may cause some not to show up to and vote and thus influence an election outcome.
That is the purpose of a suppression poll, as Copilot put it, to “influence or shape public opinion rather than just measure it.”
In this series on the Patch, while it provided information useful for this election just past, it also has principles that will continue to be useful to those who digest, learn, and share these methods of manipulation. What that Kamala Harris campaign fundraiser Lindy Li said, per the Sky News video above, reveals that manipulation can be used on supporters as well as on opponents.

It isn’t new that people are being manipulated in sometimes subtle ways. It has been occurring for years. A growing part of the population is coming to realize that troubling but demonstrable reality.

Trump won despite often very biased coverage, per sources such as the Media Research Center (MRC).
https://www.manufacturedhomepr…
https://www.manufacturedhomepr…
Left-leaning ABC News moderated the Kamala Harris (D) vs. Donald J. Trump (R) debate. Many felt that the moderators were biased, essentially trying to help Harris and hurt Trump. MRC said the following on ABC’s coverage of the two campaigns. According to MRC, Google has engaged in biased search results that influenced 41 different elections. See The Creepy Line for more details.
Let’s sum up.
- According to Democratic insiders that worked on the Kamala Harris (D) campaign, people like David Plouffe, their internal polling never showed Harris leading Trump.
- Suppression polls are meant to “influence or shape public opinion rather than just measure it.”
- Democratic Campaign staff, per Lindy Li who said she worked for several Democratic campaigns over the course of years, were being misled, so the information that they gave other volunteers, voters, or potential voters was also twisted and flawed.
- This writer for MHProNews and the Patch indicated several times before election day that per Election Time’s analysis, Trump would win. But that projection was predicated on Trump supporters showing up at actually voting. Thus there were articles that encouraged voters to vote regardless of what some pollster said. That advice has essentially been confirmed by Plouffe, Li, and others who are Democrats that worked on the Harris campaign.
Looking ahead. Harris is already being touted as a possible 2028 candidate for Democrats. Some are already claiming she is ahead among possible Democratic rivals. Without implying an endorsement of Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC-NY-D), she may well run and if so, from a Democratic perspective, she may have more skills that Harris demonstrated.
Harris lost to Trump despite having often favorable media, and often favorable support from Google and possibly others among the tech giants. Depending on the source, something like $1.4 to $1.5 billion dollars was raised and spent by the Harris (D) campaign. Yet, they still spent more than they raised and lost.
To bring this to a close it is the goal of this writer to shed light on a range of issues that could improve your life and that of the majority of Americans. The goal is to share information accurately and honestly. Then, you and others can take those insights are act upon it accordingly. That said, there is a minor subset of the population that aims to manipulate others, obviously, for their own benefit.
Part of the way to break up a corrupted system starts by exposing and understanding it. Check back for more or take a look at other articles, some more lighthearted, in this ongoing series. ##
