“Compared with the unregulated mobile/trailer homes of the past, the manufactured homes built after 1976 have a higher level of safety, durability, and quality, and the small fraction of homes damaged during hurricanes attests to their safety and durability.”

“New design features and multi-section homes are increasingly giving them the look of traditional site-built homes. These safety standards and improved features should lead to the increasing acceptance of manufactured homes as a safe, durable, and affordable type of housing,” said Cororaton, in a recent 30-page report by NAR’s Realtor University ®, entitled, the “The Market for Manufactured Homes.”
One possible reading of the scope of Cororaton’s research is to say she was more statistical – data focused – than analytical.
That’s significant, because it’s data that caused her to correctly note “the small fraction of homes damaged during hurricanes attests to their safety and durability.”
That noted, Realtor University ® published a June post entitled, “Making the Case for Manufactured Homes.”
Realtor described her research like this.
“In her article, “The Market for Manufactured Homes,” Scholastica (Gay) Cororaton, CBE, Research Economist for the National Association of REALTORS®, discusses the recent rise of mobile/manufactured homes and evaluates their role in providing affordable housing, especially for lower-income households.”

Realtor University elaborated by saying that, “…only within the last 70 years have they [pre-HUD Code mobile homes, and post HUD Code manufactured homes] truly become a staple within the American housing market. From covered wagons to aluminum trailers to contemporary, can’t-believe-it’s-manufactured homes, this constantly evolving industry offers consumers flexibility and an unparalleled opportunity for affordable living.”
Then comes this powerful point rom Realtor.
“Cororaton’s findings combat the misconceptions that mobile/manufactured homes are not safe, durable, economical, or favorable for homebuyers.”
“Her research also sheds light on how significantly utilized this form of housing is in the United States. Take a look at the data below to understand the substantiality of the mobile/manufactured housing market and how these homes stack up to standard site-built houses,” per Realtor.
Her research uses graphics, not videos or stills to illustrate her data uncovers.
Cororaton doesn’t into the hundreds of fine points that MHLivingNews has made for our readers over the years.
But what she and Realtor have de facto done is underscore the evidence and statements shared here.
You can consider a manufactured home with confidence. Who says? Numerous third party researchers. Scholastica “Gay” D. Cororaton, Certified Business Economist (CBE), is only the latest.
