Millions want a cleaner home, but feel stretched thin on time or energy. Take a look at these four tips, each proven ways to keep your home cleaner that can save time, and money too!
Shoes Off at the Door
Think about it. Your shoes, boots or sandals worn outdoors have been in some pretty dirty places. Oil, animal deposits, mud, dirt and more end up on the bottom and sides of your footwear. When you, family or friends enter, take your shoes off and leave them by the door, or front closet. A cleaner, healthier home will naturally follow.
Wear Socks and/or House Slippers Indoors
Believe it or not, foot oils from bare feet are what create a lot of the dirty tracks on carpeting. After you take those shoes off at the door, make sure you have your socks or house slippers on.
Change/Clean HVAC Filter
Depending on your HVAC (central heating and air conditioning) system, you may have very low cost filters available, or you may have easy clean filters. Cleaning and/or replacing your filters regularly (monthly/every other month) not only keeps your home cleaner, but keeps your utility bills lower. That clean filter can also mean fewer allergens in the home.
Keeping Exterior Doors and Windows Closed
The longer you leave a door or window open, the more ‘stuff’ – including insects and vermin – can enter your home. Open and close doors promptly. It’s common sense that will generally keep your utilities down, notably in summer and winter and will keep your home cleaner too.
