Brad Pitt Making it Right with Modular Homes for New Orleans

The year was 2007. 2 years had passed since the Hurricane Katrina disaster. Brad Pitt came to New Orleans with a vision for the Make it Right Foundation to make a difference in helping residents of the city’s hard-hit 9th Ward. 7 years and 100 homes later, the futuristic looking modular homes of this once devastated neighborhood stand as a testament to a vision that’s being fulfilled, step-by-step.

The older houses like the ones on the right were devistated by the flood that hit New Orleans’ 9th Ward during Katrina. The modern modular homes on the left showcase what that area is becoming, thanks in part to the work of Brad Pitt’s Make it Right Foundation.

The video shows Brad Pitt walking the area and explaining his vision for helping the residents with a hand up, not a hand out. By using modern modular home-building, very energy efficient and sustainable designs were a key part of making this happen with greater affordability.

We plan to bring you an update on other applications of Brad Pitt’s vision for ‘Making it Right,’ using eco-friendly, modern modular home building.

Until then, you might also find it interesting to see what stars like Matthew McConaughey, Minnie Driver and Pam Anderson have in common with the over 20 million Americans, all of whom opted for living in manufactured homes. ##
